Yesterday, House Republicans led by Rep. Kevin McCarthy voted to remove Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming as the No. 3 Republican leaders in the House after voicing her opinion against former President Donald Trump. A few months ago, Rep. Cheney denounced the Republican party that stood with Trump in a ‘fraud election,’ which led to this voting. Rep. Cheney had this to say “We cannot let the former President drag us backward and make us complicit in his efforts to unravel our democracy. Down that path lies our destruction, and potentially the destruction of our country.”
House Republicans were set to be against Rep. Cheney from the beginning, as 70% of Republicans believe Trump was robbed. Cheney continued in her statements of this vote, stating; “I will do everything I can to ensure that the former President never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office. You can see the danger that he continues to provoke with his language. We have seen his lack of commitment and dedication to the Constitution.”
