Rep. Joe Morelle Is Among Democrats Calling For President Biden To Step Aside

Irondequoit Rep. Joe Morelle is part of a group of senior House Democrats calling on President Joe Biden to step down from the presidential race. ABC reports Morelle joined Reps. Jerry Nadler, Mark Takano and Adam Smith to tell House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries that Biden should no longer continue his campaign. ABC cited several sources with “knowledge of the discussion.” The President is facing concerns about his mental well-being after last month’s debate. The campaign has said he will not step down. Lawmakers return to Washington today after the 4th of July holiday. Both 13WHAM and ABC News have reached out to Morelle’s office and are waiting for comment.
