Renovations at Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport are set to commence, as announced by Governor Hochul on Friday. The $38.1 million project aims to modernize the main terminal, enhancing efficiency and traveler experience. This initiative follows a $230 million investment in Upstate New York airports, with Rochester receiving $18 million.

Key updates include modern architecture, new amenities, a parking lot guidance system, an exterior canopy, and enhanced tribute areas for veterans and Frederick Douglass. Governor Hochul emphasized the importance of the airport as a first impression for visitors and a welcoming point for residents. The changes aim to create a transformative impact, making the airport a standout facility.

This announcement comes a year after the airport was named one of USA Today’s top ten small airports.
