Regina Hall Reveals Most of Her ‘Scary Movie’ Role Was Improvised

Comedic powerhouse Regina Hall revealed that her iconic portrayal of Brenda Meeks in Scary Movie was mostly improvised. In a Vanity Fair interview, Hall recalled ignoring director Keenen Ivory Wayans’ advice to stick to the script, instead ad-libbing many of Brenda’s funniest moments—like her famous “You’re on candid camera now!” and “Oooh, that’s some scurry sh*t!” Hall said she leaned into Brenda’s personality, imagining her as someone unfamiliar with Shakespeare or high culture, resulting in comedy gold. Fans can expect more of her quick wit in Scary Movie 6, which reunites Hall, Anna Faris, and the Wayans brothers for the first time in over a decade.
