Last night the Rochester Red Wings hosted a screening of the movie “42,” a biopic about Jackie Robinson, the first Black player in Major League Baseball history, for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester for a Black History Month celebration.
Red Wings general manager Dan Mason stated: “Just to make sure that the kids know (about) not only one of the best baseball players ever but really one of the most influential Americans ever.”
Dwayne Mahoney, executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester, stated: “A lot of our younger kids, believe it or not, don’t understand the importance of it. This particular movie and movies like it are important for them to come and see.”
