The Minor League Baseball league has announced that all 160 of its teams will not be playing this season due to COVID-19
This is the first time since the league’s inception that a season won’t happen. Rochester Red Wings CEO Naomi Silver released a statement Tuesday, saying:
“While this saddens me and so many of our fans, we certainly understand that the health concerns outweighed all other factors, it is unfortunate that at a time when baseball could have been a real source of healing, we have been unable to provide it for our community. But Red Wings baseball will persevere, and we look forward to next year when we can welcome our friends back to the ballpark.”
Frontier field will continue to host small events like dinner on the park and drive in at the parking lot all summer, If COVID-19 numbers stay down.
