RCSD Teachers Drop Lesson Plans To Prioritize Wellness
Written by Site Hub on November 22, 2021
School this week in the Rochester City School District is set to look a bit different, as teachers set aside their lesson plans Monday and Tuesday to prioritize wellness activities. These actives are a part of the ongoing attempt to address children’s social-emotional needs after a year away from school. Deputy Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Kathleen Black is the one who organized this plan by emailing teachers to ask for them to use the two days to create “opportunities for students to socialize, engage in cooperative games, create arts and crafts, and have extended free time within their classrooms.”
Black continued on saying: “Classroom observations should be focused on capturing the joy, laughter, and smiles of our students across the district and in every school. Artifacts of learning should include positive stories, memories, and pictures of our students being together to support being ‘well’ within our schools.”
