Rap Star Killer Mike Advocates Black Ownership In Marijuana Industry

Atlanta rapper and activist Killer Mike, one half of rap duo Run The Jewels, has recently made major statements upward movement and growth in the Black community. Most current is his advocacy for there being more beneficial placement in the marijuana industry.

“There needs to be a presence of African-American ownership in Georgia’s marijuana. We have had young men serve ten, twenty, thirty, forty years and then they get out and they cannot participate in the trade that they helped build.” Mike goes on to say, “I wanna demand normal other marijuana organizations out there to get people of color on the forefront. And I’ma be frank and say Black folks deserve a big stake. We deserve at least twenty-five percent of the marijuana industry because it has truly been built on our backs.”
