RAINBOW AT THE END OF A DARK CLOUD

Written by on June 5, 2020

In the days following the protests for justice, a response to domestic terrorism by way of police brutality, the 45th American President gave an address referencing current events around the country. Much of what he spoke about specified the area around Washington D.C. Unfortunately, some of his words were not received as well as one might think.
During this speech he mentioned “when the looting starts, the shooting starts”. This slogan was used back in 1967 by the Miami police chief during a news conference. He had been widely accused of using racist tactics in his force’s patrols of Black neighborhoods.

Fast forward to the next day of protesting – The President issued orders for military armed forces to patrol the event. It was said by some who attended that officers barricaded protesters into a certain section of the D.C. area. There was tear gas thrown and many other violent acts to control and/or antimidate the crowd. People scurrying to escape the military were allowed into one guy’s home. Here’s that story!
