If you aren’t watching Abbott Elementary, you need to check it out! Tuesday night Philly native Quinta Brunson had a reason to celebrate as she took home the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series or Musical for her role as Janine Teague. Not only is this Brunson’s first Golden Globe, but she is the first winner from a broadcast network since Tracee Ellis Ross in 2016 for ABC’s Black-ish.
Quinta Brunson stated: “Disney, 20th Century, Warner Bros, thank you… for believing in this show about a group of teachers from Philadelphia. It has resonated with the world in a way that I couldn’t even imagine it would have. But let’s be real, I did imagine it so I sold it to you; thank you for believing in it.”
