Prince to Be Simulcast on Radio Stations ‘7 Hours and 13 Days’ After His Death

Exactly 7 hours and 13 days after Prince’s death, radio stations across the country will team up to pay homage to the musical icon, who died on April 21.

The very specific time for the tribute comes from Prince’s song “Nothing Compares 2 U,” which opens with the line: “It’s been 7 hours and 13 days, since you took your love away.”

To mark the moment, Prince’s hometown radio station, Minneapolis’s The Current, has invited stations to join them in a simulcast where channels across the country will play Prince’s version of “Nothing Compares 2 U” at the same time, Wednesday at exactly 5:07 p.m. CT (that’s 6:07 ET/3:07 PT).

Prince wrote the track in the mid-1980s, but it was in 1990 that Sinead O’Connor took the song to the top of the Billboard charts, making one minor change to the lyrics, changing the time from “7 hours and 13 days” to “7 hours and 15 days.” A few years after the song become one of O’Connor’s hallmarks, Prince took the song to No. 62 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs in 1994.

SO LET’S GO CRAZY WITH ANOTHER 7 HRS AND 13 MIN OF PRINCE ON WDKX
