After the deadly flooding from Hucciane Ida that hit New York City, President Biden has approved the use of federal funds to support New Yorkers recovering as remnants swept through the area, killing dozens. Some homes were completely destroyed, but at least 1,200 New York homes were damaged during the storm. Biden is expected to survey damage in New York and New Jersey today.
Governor Hochul commented on President Biden’s approval for the federal funding: “I saw the devastation of New Yorkers who lost so much from this storm, and I pledged that we would do everything in our power to help them rebuild. I thank President Biden and FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell for their swift approval of a Major Disaster Declaration, which provides a promise that we will build back better and stronger.”
