Popular Nonalcoholic Pop-Up Bar Getting Permanent Home In Rochester
Written by Site Hub on February 21, 2024
AltBar, a popular nonalcoholic pop-up bar founded by Meg and Bob Hartman in late 2021, is set to establish a permanent location in Rochester at 1947 E. Main St. in North Winton Village. Targeting a summer opening, the Hartmans aim to address the growing demand for nonalcoholic social spaces, reflecting a broader trend among younger adults drinking less. The new venue will feature a bottle shop offering a variety of zero-proof beverages and is designed to be inclusive, with accessibility considerations and a capacity for around 48 patrons. The space, approximately 1,000 square feet, will allow for a cozy tavern atmosphere, with a seasonal mixed drink menu and mocktails that avoid triggering ingredients for those abstaining from alcohol. While the bar won’t have a kitchen, it plans to offer packaged snacks in collaboration with local businesses. Operational hours are planned for Wednesday through Saturday, with extended hours on weekends. The Hartmans’ initiative is supported by local businesses Bar Mecca and Grace & Disgrace, with the community’s backing playing a crucial role in AltBar’s journey from a pop-up concept to a permanent establishment.
