Sony just gave everyone a 400 day heads up about their brand new PlayStation 5. Breathe easy parents and be patient adult gamers, the new system won’t be out until the holidays of 2020.

Sony’s US system architect, Mark Cerny, said the forthcoming console will have the ability to support ray-tracing, which is a technique that can enable complex lighting and sound effects in 3D environments.

“There is ray-tracing acceleration in the GPU hardware,” he says, “which I believe is the statement that people were looking for.”

Now, I’m not a gamer, but I am might be a potential customer. With a PS4 currently being used in my house, PlayStation 5 is almost an inevitability. Which leads me to the bottom line, how much does this bad boy cost? Will supply meet demand?

I do realize price does not matter when it comes to people who are gamers. Like a love for iPhone, new TV technology, fall fashions, movie trilogy, or a car; it’s part of the culture of loving something.

The end of 2020 is a year away, so pack your patience.
