Planned Parenthood Opens Brighton Clinic Amid Federal Cuts

Written by on July 19, 2025

Despite facing exclusion from the federal Medicaid program, Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York (PPCWNY) has opened a new clinic at Westfall Park Medical Center in Brighton. The expansion comes at a time when the organization continues to serve Medicaid patients at no cost, thanks to state support and internal policies. At the clinic’s opening, PPCWNY President Michelle Casey emphasized the organization’s commitment to providing care regardless of a patient’s insurance status or ability to pay. Though courts have temporarily sided with Planned Parenthood in its legal challenges against federal restrictions, leaders in the region have chosen to operate without billing Medicaid for now. Supporters, staff, and state officials celebrated the clinic’s opening as a win for accessible healthcare and reproductive rights in the region.
