After a comprehensive national search, Howard University has announced alumna Phylicia Rashad as the Dean of the newly reestablished College of Fine Arts. Her positioning will take place on July 1, 2021.
As a Howard University alum, Rashad graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s in fine arts.
It’s so interesting to see this happen soon after having recently watched how they ended the third season of The Cosby Show. In the last episode, Rashad’s most famous character role, Claire Huxtable was asked to sing at a graduation ceremony at her alma mater Hillman University. They always maintained the importance of education throughout the seasons.
“It is a privilege to serve in this capacity and to work with the Howard University administration, faculty and students in reestablishing the College of Fine Arts.” – Phylicia Rashad
