Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Looks Effective for Young Kids

Written by on October 24, 2021

Federal health regulators (FDA) have recently spoken out on how the kid-size doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine appear highly effective at preventing symptomatic infections in elementary school children. The kid-sized dose also shows no unexpected safety issues. According to the FDA’s analysis, scientists concluded that in almost every scenario the vaccine’s benefit for preventing hospitalizations and death from COVID-19 would outweigh any serious potential side effects in children.

It is unknown currently when the vaccine will be able for ages 5 to 11. However, the Biden administration has purchased enough kid-size doses for the nation. The doses are in special orange-capped vials to distinguish them from the adult vaccines, to prevent mixups. If the vaccine is cleared, millions of doses that were purchased will be shipped around the country, along with kid-size needles, so that they are readily available.
