Paychex, Inc., which has its headquarters in Rochester and employs approximately 5,000 local workers, announced that it plans to donate $1 million to the United Way through its Paychex Charitable Foundation to aid people in the City of Rochester and 10 other local communities. The United Way of Greater Rochester will receive $750,000 of the donation and distribute $500,000 of it to the Community Crisis Fund that it manages with the Rochester Area Community Foundation. The remaining $250,000 will go to other programs.
The hope is that the money will help offset the negative impact that the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has had on people living in the region. It will be used primarily to provide “crucial services” to members of communities that have a significant need for help at this time.
Paychex president and CEO Martin Mucci explained in a statement: “Paychex and our employees have a strong, proud tradition of supporting United Way in Rochester and across the country, and it’s our employees and the results they’ve delivered that helped make this gift possible… We believe that United Way is uniquely positioned to do the most good for the most people in need in each community.”
