Breaking news: Tyra Banks’ new theme park in Santa Monica, California, ModelLand, won’t open as planned on May 1. Per a press release, the 21,000-square-foot beauty and fashion theme park was supposed to merge a “fantasy version of the modeling world with state-of-the-art interactive entertainment, creative collaborations, curated retail, dining and special events.”
Now, an alert message is posted to the park’s website: “Based on the recommendations and guidance of federal, state, and local government officials, and of experts from the WHO and other organizations, we have decided to postpone the opening of ModelLand until we determine a new date that is safe and appropriate.”
The cost of tickets for the park have varied based on the type of experience a person might want to have while exploring it. For example, a standard visit only costs $59/person. A photoshoot experience costs $549/person. The VIP option is $1,495/person. As a result of the postponement, ticket-holders can apply for a full refund or modify their park visitation dates to dates later in the year.
“During this uncertain time, please take care of yourselves,” said Banks via a statement. “Find ways to connect with your loved ones digitally and utilize this time to organize and prepare for the unexpected. We will see you on the other side of this!”
