An Ohio man, Jason Fauntleroy, is contesting the city’s efforts to reclaim Bloomfield Court, a street he accidentally purchased for $5,000 during a 2021 auction.
Fauntleroy intended to buy a plot for his home but ended up owning the entire street.
Three years later, the city initiated eminent domain proceedings to take back the street, claiming it can do so under state law, which mandates “just compensation” for property owners.
Fauntleroy asserts that the city’s valuation only accounted for his lot, neglecting the street’s true worth, and believes the city is attempting to shortchange him.
