NY AG Proposes Social Media Curfew, Parental Controls for Minors
Written by DJ Sight on September 17, 2025
New York’s Attorney General released proposed rules for the SAFE for Kids Act, which restricts social media for users under 18. It bans:
-
Nighttime notifications (12–6 a.m.)
-
Algorithmic feeds without parental consent
Platforms must verify age for users over 18 before granting access to these features, offering options beyond just government ID.
Parents can allow exceptions, but platforms can’t target kids without permission.
