North America’s Largest Video Game Summit Coming to Rochester

Rochester will host the 2025 Serious Play Conference, the continent’s largest game-based learning summit, from August 13–15 at St. John Fisher University. The event will gather over 300 experts—including educators, researchers, and developers—to explore how gaming is transforming sectors like healthcare, education, and government. With more than 120 speakers, the conference showcases Rochester as a national hub for innovation and collaborative research. Conference Executive Director Paul Darvasi highlighted the city’s unique blend of academic and tech strengths. Attendees will also witness the International Serious Play Awards and the first-ever Esports Summit at RIT’s MAGIC Spell Studios on August 16. This major event is expected to boost the local economy and enhance Rochester’s status as a leader in game-based learning.
