Nipsey Hussle documentary in the works

Marathon Films, a Nipsey Hussle production company, announced on February 10th of 2020 that they will present a feature film documentary and are currently in negotiations with Netflix to do so. This official statement leaves much to the imagination due to the vague promises, as well as little to no information on the contents of the film.

Many know that Nipsey Hussle was interested in producing a film about Dr. Sebi, and while some believe this will be a completion of that work, others are speculating the documentary is going to be about Nipsey Hussle himself. All we know for sure is that the documentary will be executive produced by Nipsey’s children, Emani and Kross Asghedom, alongside RocNation. Marathon Films is also in negotiations with Ava DuVernay and her company ARRAY to coproduce.

Ava DuVernay has experienced and garnered much success for herself and Netflix with her critically acclaimed documentary titled “13th” and a series titled “When They See Us”. She is an award-winning director, as well as an advocate for the black community. The team Nipsey Hussle company is putting together demonstrates the importance of the message they intend to convey. The company stated that “This documentary is very important to the family and will not be fast-tracked by monetary gain and/or commercial interest.”
