Nia DaCosta will becomes the first Black woman to direct a Marvel movie. According Deadline, the Candyman director will direct the Captain Marvel sequel to its $1 billion dollar-grossing movie. DaCosta is a writer and director based in New York City. Her first feature film, Little Woods, starring Tessa Thompson and Lily James. 30-year-old will be in charge of the biggest budget movie ever made by a black female filmmaker, as its cost will likely dwarf the $115 million budget of Ava DuVernay‘s A Wrinkle in Time.
