New York State Expands TAP For Part-Time Students

Written by on August 19, 2022

Yesterday, Governor Kathy Hochul announced a $150 million expansion of the state’s Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) to include part-time students. The program will now be open to approximately 75,000 additional students who are taking at least six credits per semester.

Governor Hochul stated: “TAP has always been there to bridge a gap between what you might have in your family, especially families that don’t have very much, and the cost of your tuition. It’s supposed to help you cross that bridge to opportunity, and that’s what we’ve done. We know TAP works, but since its inception it has been too limited.”
