New York has joined at least 15 other states in offering Mobile ID, with the DMV highlighting it as a safer way to manage personal information. Launched in June, the New York Mobile ID (MiD) program has seen over 160,000 sign-ups, allowing iPhone and Android users to upload and store their driver’s licenses, learner’s permits, or state-issued IDs on their phones. The app enables businesses to verify age while giving users more control over the personal data they share during identification checks.
