New Movie Alert: Passing Staring Tessa Thompson And Ruth Negga

This new movie starring Tessa Thompson looks like it is going to be very good from the trailer that dropped earlier this week. The movie also stars Academy Award winner Ruth Negga who passes for a white woman. The movie is a timepiece based on the 1929 novel written by Nella Larsen. It is about two black women who can “pass” in society as white but choose to live on opposite sides of the color line during the Harlem Renaissance.
It touches on the lies people create to live a certain “life” and maintain their carefully constructed reality. Sounds a lot like today and social media BUT that is another story for another day. Check out the trailer and peep the moment Tessa Thompson’s character Irene and Claire (Ruth Negga) have an exchange with her husband. I’m really looking forward to watching this movie!
The film drops on Netflix November 10th but there will also be a limited release in select theatres in October.
