Yesterday, 20 years after the attack on September 11th, 2001, New York Governor Kathy Hochul recognized the New York National Guard. Governor Hochul spoke at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, where Governor Hochul announced that she signed three pieces of legislation to support 9/11 and communications first responders. This bill makes it easier for first responders to apply for WTC benefits, by expanding its criteria to all first responders who participated in the World Trade Center rescue, recovery, and cleanup.
Governor Kathy Hochul stated: “These laws will help not only first responders who were at the World Trade Center on that terrible day and those who cleaned the site for weeks afterward, but also the emergency dispatchers and communications personnel who keep us safe today. We will ensure they receive the support and benefits they deserve.”
