New Family Justice Center to open in Monroe County
Written by Site Hub on September 6, 2024
Monroe County’s first Family Justice Center is being constructed at Skyview on the Ridge in Irondequoit, New York, with the goal of streamlining services for survivors of domestic violence and abuse. The project, supported by over $4 million in state funding, is a collaboration between the Willow Domestic Violence Center and the Child Advocacy Center of Greater Rochester. The facility will provide a centralized location for children and adults to access immediate screening, assessment, and other critical services. Leaders, including State Sen. Samra Brouk and Assemblymembers Sarah Clark and Jen Lunsford, highlighted the importance of reducing barriers such as transportation and childcare, which often prevent survivors from seeking help. The center, set to open in fall 2025, will offer trauma-sensitive spaces designed to promote safety and healing for individuals impacted by violence. The initiative reflects years of planning and input from survivors, aiming to provide a vital resource for families in crisis.
