It’s been two months since we learned of the tragic and violent murder of Shaniece Taylor, which took place in her home on Fourth street on August 15th. To date her murder is still unsolved, but her family hopes new developments in this case will bring in the answers they’ve been searching for.

As of Tuesday, October 15th, the last person to see Taylor alive, Margzell Miller, was arrested after two months on the run. He is now being held at the Monroe County Jail on a parole violation. Although police never named Miller as a suspect, many others, including Taylor’s family, believe he had something to do with her death.

Taylor’s aunt, Michelle Floyd, had this to say about Miller’s arrest, “It’s been two months to the day, Aug. 15. He was the last person to see her we just want to know what happened, if you didn’t do it just tell us give us some kind of insight on what happened to my niece.”

She further finds it suspicious that he fled immediately after Taylor’s death. She goes on to say, “What are you running for? Parole violation is not the end of the world, [but] murder is.”

Floyd also believes the fire that was set to Taylor’s now abandoned home on Fourth street was intentionally set, that the two crimes are connected, and that Miller is the missing link in all of this.

“The same spot where she was found. In the same spot where her body was lying, why?”

No other suspects have been named at this time. I hope the family of Shaniece Taylor will soon get the justice they deserve.
