New Changes in NYS Travel

Written by on April 2, 2021

Yesterday, the New York State travel advisory rules were updated. Per the update, domestic travelers coming into New York State will no longer have to follow the mandatory quarantine, but rather take a second COVID-19 test. Previously the NYS requirement was that anyone traveling from states that are not neighboring New York must self-quarantine for 14 days. Now, in order to travel into NYS, you must test negative for COVID-19 three days prior to traveling, self-quarantine for 3 days and on the fourth day test for COVID-19 again. This new rule also applies to those who live in NYS and travel outside of the state for more or less than 24 hours.

These new changes only apply to domestic travelers. Those who are traveling internationally will have to follow the 14 day self-quarantine rule. Every traveler will still be required to fill out the NYS issued travel health form. Anyone who is fully vaccinated after 90 days does not have to quarantine.
