New Amazon Grocery Store – Not Whole Foods

A few years after Amazon bought the Whole Foods chain, they opened a new grocery business that is now popping up around the country. It would appear that the new owner just changed the title and continued but, CNN reports, this new grocery franchise is not like Whole Foods and has an entirely different target market.

The new store is called Amazon Fresh. The idea of buying out an already-booming business to simply increase the value of another has taken an interestingly new approach. Amazon plans to utilize people’s grocery shopping to increase the amount of Amazon Prime members and develop more loyalty with their existing members.

The Amazon Fresh stores offer more main stream products than Whole Foods and focuses on pricing for lower income shoppers. Higher-income shoppers will also take advantage of the deals and not compromising on quality.

A tip for those keeping an eye open for a new Amazon Fresh store pop-up, they usually take up locations of previous retailers. Although, they can be visually smaller than Whole Foods, it serves for a larger concept than immediate revenue alone.
