New Aldi Expected To Open This Summer In Irondequoit

A new Aldi supermarket is set to open this summer on East Ridge Road in Irondequoit, expanding the no-frills grocery chain’s presence in the area. The store, currently under construction, will be located on a previously vacant 3-acre site that once housed Irondequoit Dodge. This development follows an application by Marathon Engineering for site-plan, subdivision, and variance approvals on behalf of Aldi and Ridge Tiam, LLC. Additionally, plans include the future construction of a 3,000-square-foot, quick-service restaurant on the same parcel, enhancing the local retail landscape. The new Aldi store will be significantly larger than the existing one on Hudson Avenue, featuring the chain’s typical facade common in the Rochester area. This opening is part of Aldi’s aggressive expansion strategy in the U.S., driven by a surge in consumer demand for budget-friendly shopping options.
