Netflix to celebrate Africa Month with ‘Made in Africa’ collection

Netflix has announced it will introduce a Made in Africa collection to celebrate Africa Month. Demonstrating the streaming service’s commitment to the African creative community, it will feature critically-acclaimed films, series and documentaries.
The collection is being made available globally at netflix.com/madeinafrica, but it can also be found on Netflix by searching ‘Africa Day’, ‘Africa Month’ or ‘Made in Africa’.
The collection includes over 100 titles, with Netlfix Originals as well as older licensed films making the list. Users can enjoy films and series such as King of Boys, Tsotsi, Lionheart, Joy and Azali. Movies and programs that were partially or completely filmed in Africa will be available too, including Beasts of No Nation, Blood Diamond, Holiday in the Wild, The Ivory Game, Virunga, Troy: Fall of a City, and The Red Sea Diving Resort.
Ben Amadasun, Director of Licensing and Co-productions for Africa at Netflix, said: “This Africa Month, we’re excited to celebrate African stories and storytellers. This collection includes Queen Sono – our first Netflix original series – as well as films like Catching Feelings, Chief Daddy, 93 Days, Merry Men.”
The month of May is recognized as Africa month, with the continent coming together to commemorate the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU).
