Two weeks after “Game of Thrones” ended on HBO, the battle for the NBA “Throne” just got interesting! Toronto Raptors seized a 118-109 NBA Finals Game 1 victory over the defending champions, Golden State Warriors on Thursday night.

This win has set up a real life drama on a Sunday night for Game 2, which is sure to have the skyrocketing ratings that both the NBA and ABC Networks are looking forward to.

How does it compare to “Game of Thrones”? Having run the NBA for the last 5 years, we’ll look at Golden State as maybe the Lannister Family, who ruled the seven kingdoms.

Now take Toronto Raptors and fans. They’re always chanting, “We are the North,” just like the Stark Family, whom everyone was rooting for during the show’s run. This is why a lot of people on Instagram have seen the images of Kawhi Leonard portrayed as “King of the North”.

And yes, for true “Game of Thrones” fans, you will not see any Dragons or Wizards (Washington didn’t make the playoffs this year). But you will see two teams battling, superstars rising to the occasion, maybe a few unlikely heroes. I can’t promise anything, but you might even see a late game dagger (metaphorically speaking), in one of the games during this series.

Regardless of who wins, someone will sit on the throne as the champions of the NBA, and the best part is, there is no script. Game 2 of the NBA Finals is this Sunday night at 8 PM.
