Murder Hornet Nest Discovered In Washington State
Written by Site Hub on October 25, 2020
Washington State has called in the heavies to remove the first reported nest of murder hornets discovered in the United States.
A team assembled by the state agriculture department has been searching for the nest for weeks, using any technique possible. This includes tying tiny tracking devices to individual hornets with dental floss.
The hornets are an invasive species that originated in Asia and can spit venom and deliver a monster sting. Although terrifying, they’re more of a threat to the native honeybees which farmers depend on to pollinate their crops.
The nest was about the size of a basketball and held almost 200 hornets according to the report left by the agricultural department.
