Cyonna Badger has been charged with criminally negligent homicide and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the death of her 7-year-old son, Hakeem Badger.
The incident occurred on July 4, 2024, in Greece, New York, when Hakeem was fatally struck by a U-Haul truck while crossing West Ridge Road outside of a crosswalk and against a green light.
He succumbed to his injuries more than a week later. A Monroe County grand jury indicted Badger, and she was arraigned last week.
Authorities allege she acted in a way likely to harm a child under 17 at the time of the incident.
