Written by on September 28, 2023

Monroe County celebrated the inauguration of a new facility for the Deaf Refugee Advocacy Group in recognition of Deaf Awareness Month.

Situated at Sibley Square, this new hub offers American sign language workshops, job preparation, and essential life skill sessions, complemented by social gatherings for newcomers.

Diana Pryntz, the founder and executive director of the advocacy group since May 2017, emphasized that every refugee in the area is warmly invited to join the group. Pryntz stated: “It is our goal to empower our deaf brothers and sisters, regardless of where they were born, where they came from. DRA believes that everyone should have access to learning the necessary skills to become self sufficient and active participants in our community”
