Written by on November 18, 2025

MonroeAlert is the County’s and city of Rochester’s new emergency notification system that delivers alerts about critical situations through text, email, phone call, or mobile app. These include public safety incidents, severe weather, travel restrictions, and shelter information. “This new system is faster, smarter, and it’s built for today’s modern world,” said County Executive Adam Bello at a press event on the new system. Joined by Mayor Malike Evans and other local officials, the group highlighted the system’s multilingual capacity, which includes sending video alerts in American Sign Language. Alerts are sent out by the 911 center and county public safety team.

MonroeAlert is replacing the HyperReach system, and the county will deliver notifications through the Everbridge mobile app. The mayor said the system will also be helpful for emergency responders. “We built MonroeAlert because all of Rochester deserves better than crossed wires and confusion when it matters most,” said We built this so that first responders can focus on responding, not explaining. Because every minute we save, we can save a life, protect property, or prevent injury. “ Residents are encouraged to sign up for alerts which can be done at monroecounty.gov/monroealert.
