Missouri Governor Repeals Voter-Approved Paid Sick Leave Law
Written by Site Hub on July 14, 2025
Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe has signed a repeal of the state’s paid sick leave and inflation-adjusted minimum wage law—just eight months after voters approved it. Set to end August 28, the repeal is seen as a win for business interests and a blow to labor advocates. The original law allowed workers to earn one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked. While proponents hoped it would help working families, Kehoe cited bureaucratic burdens and championed tax cuts instead. Advocates are already pushing for a new constitutional amendment to protect the policy from future legislative reversal.
