Michael Jordan, LeBron James & Others Pay Off Court Fees, Allowing Floridian Felons To Vote

Written by on November 4, 2020

LeBron James, Michael Jordan and other celebrities have all come together and joined the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition and paid off almost $27 million in court fees, allowing 13,000 felons the opportunity to vote.

Among four of the state’s largest counties—Hillsborough, Pinellas, Palm Beach and Polk—about 32 percent, or 1,518, of the 4,700 felons who had their fines and fees paid by the nonprofit Florida Rights Restoration Coalition are registered to vote in the upcoming election, according to the Times/Herald/ProPublica review.

In addition to working with the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition, James has been busy protecting the rights of Black Americans with his More Than A Vote Initiative that focuses on reducing voter suppression.
