Memories of Loved Ones Light Up Kershaw Park in Luminaria Celebration

The annual LIGHT[the]Hill: A Luminaria Celebration brought over 2,000 luminarias to Kershaw Park in Canandaigua, providing a moving tribute to lost loved ones. Hosted by Light Hill, a local comfort care home, the event encourages community members to purchase and decorate luminarias in memory of someone they’ve lost. The glowing display along Lake Canandaigua’s pathways created a communal space for grief, remembrance, and healing. This year’s event also highlighted the life of Sam Nordquist, a transgender man killed earlier in the year, whose memory was honored with a willow tree adorned with luminarias. Funds raised support hospice and palliative care services, with the event aligning with National Hospice and Palliative Care Month.
