Join host of Old School House Gerald McBride for his directorial debut of the new movie The Rhythm on Friday February 28th at Movies 10 in Rochester, NY.

As we close out Black History Month, this night at the movies  pays tribute to the long, unsung history of Black hockey players — a legacy that goes back to a Black hockey league formed in 1895 in Nova Scotia.

The movie follows a gifted Black hockey player, Robert (Buck) Taylor, who must put aside his dreams of going pro after a fight with a racist white player sends him to prison.  Out on parole, he is tasked with coaching a fledgling youth hockey team at a Detroit ice rink.

Grab your ticket to see The Rhythm here and stay for a meet and greet with the director Gerald McBride and Q&A moderated by WDKX’s Jazzy T.

Inspiro:

Gerald McBride, Detroit radio host and commercial producer, who wrote and directed the new drama "Black Ice: The Rhythm."

Known for his work on radio and TV since the 80’s Gerald McBride was inspired to write a film about Black hockey players after attending a college hockey game at the University of Michigan and realized that he was the only Black person in the rink. No Black players, fans or coaches in sight.

Come meet and congratulate him at the Rochester screening Friday 2/28/25 as “Black Ice: The Rhythm” opens for a weeklong run at Movies 10  2609 W Henrietta Rd Rochester, NY 14623

The Special Presentation starts at 7pm
