Medicaid Millionaire” Charged After Buying Lamborghini While on Benefits

Written by on July 31, 2025

Candace Taylor, 35, of Slidell, Louisiana, has been arrested and charged with Medicaid fraud after authorities say she falsely claimed low income to obtain government healthcare benefits while secretly running a multi-million-dollar business empire. Dubbed the “Medicaid millionaire” by the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, Taylor allegedly manipulated income reports and used an alias—“Candace Sailor”—in her initial applications for Medicaid in 2019 and 2020. Both applications were flagged for inconsistencies, including false information about income and dependents.

Between 2021 and 2024, Taylor reportedly moved tens of thousands of dollars between her personal and business accounts. Investigators say she owned six companies that together earned over $9.5 million in that time frame. Records showed $480,994 in deposits, including over $325,000 tied directly to business activities.

Despite this income, Taylor allegedly continued to reapply for Medicaid, claiming she earned only $4,000 a month, and omitting her business ownership. Authorities uncovered lavish spending, including:

  • A $100,000 wire transfer to luxury car dealership Tactical Fleet

  • A $13,000 debit card transaction for a 2022 Lamborghini Urus

  • $45,086 in vehicle payments to Audi Finance

  • Multiple six-figure withdrawals for property, plastic surgery, luxury jewelry, and services

Officials also noted that Taylor flaunted her lifestyle openly on social media, which helped investigators piece together the case. The fraud investigation began after a complaint from the Louisiana Health Department, and she was arrested Monday. The case highlights ongoing efforts to detect and prosecute abuse of public benefits.
