Max & Spotify Celebrate Black Music Month With ‘Shaped by Sound’ Experience in NYC

In celebration of Black Music Month, Max and Spotify are hosting “Shaped by Sound,” an immersive one-day music experience on June 22 at New York City’s Hall des Lumières. The event will feature themed rooms, curated DJ sets, and a performance by rising rapper Cash Cobain. The experience includes:
- A mirrored room with 360-projection mapping showcasing iconic concert moments.
- A room pairing film and TV scenes from the Max library with music videos, highlighting the role of music in shaping visual media.
- A room revisiting classic ‘90s sitcoms with key scenes and memorable quotes.
Guests will also enjoy South House-curated DJ sets and Spotify Frequency playlists in the Scene in Black and Frequency lounge. Limited-edition T-shirts by The Crate will be available. VIP attendees will have exclusive access to Cash Cobain’s performance and additional musical surprises.
Jackie Gagne, senior VP of multicultural marketing at HBO and Max, emphasized the event’s goal of celebrating the profound influence of Black music on culture and innovation. Kimmy Summers, Spotify’s artist partnerships lead, highlighted Spotify’s dedication to celebrating Black artists and the impact of Black music on culture.
