Madden Announces The Return Of Kap To The Franchise

After 4 years, the Madden franchise is adding Colin Kaepernick back to its roster.

On Tuesday, Madden 21 announced that it would be issuing a free patch update that will allow players to pick Kaepernick in franchise mode.

EA Sports released a statement that said:

“Now’s your chance to bring back Kap and be the virtual GM that signs one of the most dynamic QBs in the game!”

Although Madden hasn’t included Kaepernick in a game since Madden 16, the franchise came under fire when they removed all mentions of the player from the soundtrack, almost acting like he never existed.

In 2018, they apologized for their mistake, saying:

“We made an unfortunate mistake with our Madden NFL soundtrack. Members of our team misunderstood the fact that while we don’t have rights to include Colin Kaepernick in the game, this doesn’t affect soundtracks. We messed up, and the edit should never have happened. … We meant no disrespect.”
