Low Risk Youth Sports Set to Continue In Early July

Written by on June 16, 2020

Governor Andrew Cuomo has said that low-risk youth sports will be authorized to continue on July 6 with the phase 3 re opening plan.

Low-risk sports include baseball, softball, gymnastics, field hockey, cross country and crew.

Social distancing regulations will still be in place for those attending, and there can be no more than 2 spectators per child in the stands.

COVID-19 hospitalizations have continued to decline, but according to the data on Saturday, there were still over 1,600 people in the hospital with the coronavirus.

Following the evidence from other states that have reopened, the Governor is warning New Yorkers that if they are not careful, the numbers will spike again.

He commented:

“If you ignore the facts, it’s going to be to our peril. I promise you that,” Governor Cuomo said. “The reason we made the progress was because we followed the facts even though it was hard. Don’t disregard the facts; 22 states are seeing increases.”
