Lollypop Farm Partners with Bissell Pet Foundation to Help Long-Term Shelter Pets Find Homes

A new partnership between Lollypop Farm and the Bissell Pet Foundation is giving long-term shelter pets a greater chance at finding loving homes. The New York Intrastate Transport Program and Long-Stay Pet Initiative creates a statewide network of shelters to help pets that have been adoption-eligible for more than 30 days. Through the program, shelters can list long-term pets on Bissell’s portal, allowing other shelters to request a transfer and increase their chances of adoption.
Susie Lucey, Lollypop Farm’s Rescue Transport Coordinator, emphasized the program’s importance, saying, “It gives the ones that have been overlooked for a long period of time more views in other rescues and shelters.” Currently, 16 pets at Lollypop Farm are eligible for the program.
The adoption process remains the same, with families receiving a portion of food and any necessary medication to ensure a smooth transition. Lollypop Farm is one of 19 shelters participating, along with the Humane Society of Yates County.
