Locals hold Vigil For Families Facing Eviction
Written by Site Hub on March 20, 2022
Over the week, many gathered around on the steps of the Hall of Justice in Rochester, to recognize families facing eviction. Earlier this past week, the Rochester City Council voted against a law that would have provided and added protection for tenants who have fallen behind due to hard times. While there is nothing being done by the council at this time, the City-Wide Tenant Union hopes to work with state leaders on adding eviction protections. According to the Rochester City court, 789 new eviction cases were filed between January 15 and March 15 of 2022, and 1,248 eviction cases are pending.
