New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo recently adjusted the business curfew, letting bars and restaurants stay open until 11 pm instead of 10.
The change went into effect on Valentines Day and local restaurants are getting optimistic about the future.
Shelby Griswold, a server at Lemoncello, said:
“People are so excited to get out and celebrate with their loved ones. A lot of people probably didn’t realize we would be booked so quickly. Sadly, we had to say no to a lot of people that we wish we could have said yes to.”
Janine Cashette, owner of Avvino in Brighton said:
“Pre-COVID we did three seating’s. 5:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 9:30 p.m.. Now with the curfew set at 10 p.m. , we had to make sure everyone was set by 8 p.m. so they are out in time because they had to leave the building by 10 o’clock. Now that we have all these 8 o’clock tables, there is no way we could do a third seating.”
